1. How much does a solar panel installation cost?
The price of a solar installation depends on many things such as the size of your roof, what type of panels you choose and how much scaffolding will be required. The best way to find out how much it will cost for you is to contact us. We will even be able to carry out a free survey on your property.
2. Do I need planning permission?
Solar PV systems do not require planning permission as a rule, the exceptions to this are: listed buildings and homes in conservation areas or in areas of outstanding natural beauty. Please contact us if you have any questions.
3. How long will the installation take?
Our solar qualified installation team of electricians and roofers will normally take a day and we usually have scaffolding erected prior to the installation and removed afterwards.
4. How are the solar panels fixed to the roof?
The solar panels are fitted to the roof via stainless steel roof hooks that are screwed to the rafters, onto which an Aluminium rail is fixed. The panels are then attached to the rail.
5. What does my generation meter do?
Your generation meter records how much electricity your PV array has produced. We advise you take regular generation meter readings to monitor performance of your solar panels. You will also need to use your generation meter to submit readings to your FIT provider.
6. Once my install is complete what do I do next?
You should make sure your system is registered for the Feed-in Tariff with an energy company. To do this you need to obtain the Feed-in Tariff registration documents from the energy supplier you are registering with, which can be done by calling them and requesting a copy be sent to you. Alternatively, most of them can be found online by searching for 'Feed-in Tariff Form, Energy-company-name'. There are certain documents that need to accompany your application, such as the MCS certificate, but we will be happy to assist you with the process.
7. What warranties do I get?
You receive a 5 year warranty for any workmanship carried out by Green Energy Electrical. Any parts used come with their manufacturer's warranty. Solar panels usually come with a 25 year power output warranty and a 10 year product warranty. We are also members of HIES who offer consumer protection covering the installation of renewable energy products.
